‘No one’ is a Powerful Person To Be in a Fascist Regime: In Solidarity With Los Angeles Protesters

In response to the militarized reactions to the Los Angeles protests against ICE from the Trump Administration, The Catalyst launched a flash submission campaign to show solidarity. The following poem, "‘No one’ is a powerful person to be in a fascist regime", is from Kal Holder.

The verge of martial law tastes like pepper doused in gasoline

Tear gas lingers in the air, and the chants have turned to screams. Indecipherable from protestors and

perpetrators.

Drums. Flash-bangs. Sweat and Tears.

A battle of will, but one side has guns.

The victor chooses the narrative

It is not enough

Our movements can’t forget that violence

is the only language fascists speak.

Turn up the beat when you bleed in the street. Let the cameras see the joy and hear the ruckus

Curfews can’t hold back the crush of our bodies as we push against their pedestals and take away their

power.

Family trees must not be uprooted

They only have the power they take from us

Don’t give it freely
