Calling all dreamers, word-weavers, and story alchemists!
About Bookish Friends & Networking:
Join fellow writers, editors, illustrators, booksellers, and reviewers for a cozy online networking night! Bookish Friends & Networking is a virtual space to make meaningful connections, share your work, and uplift others in the literary community. Build lasting creative partnerships from anywhere—come meet your next collaborator or reader!
What To Expect:
We’ll begin with introductions to ground ourselves in community and intention. Then, the floor opens for anyone who wants to share—whether it’s a current project, a creative dream, or something you’d like support with. From there, conversation flows naturally, guided by curiosity, care, and whatever the moment invites.
In the final 10–15 minutes, we’ll make space for event announcements, opportunities, or exciting news you’d like to share with the group. All links, resources, and social media shared during the session will be lovingly gathered into a collaborative document and emailed to registered participants—so your connections can continue to grow long after the call ends.
Pricing:
Bookish Friends & Networking is a free program supported by sliding-scale slots. No one will be turned away for lack of funds (NOTAFLOF). When registering, you may select free registration or a paid registration tier. Your paid registration will be used to support costs associated with outreach efforts, technology maintenance, and facilitation. Pay per session or occasionally.
How To Register:
To register for Bookish Friends & Networking, visit the events section of the Fortuna Major Store and select the Bookish Friends listing. Follow the prompts on the page to select your registration tier. You must follow this process for every Bookish Friends session you wish to attend. Registration closes the day before each gathering.
How To Join:
A half-hour before each gathering, an email will be sent out from fortunamajorcreativeco@gmail.com with a Zoom link to join. Please add this email to your contacts list to ensure emails are delivered and check your spam folder for each session you attend.
Accessibility:
Our reader will be wearing a microphone for all Bookish Friends meetings to enhance sound quality. Zoom offers auto-generated captions for accessibility, which must be manually turned on by users. To enable auto-generated captions (live transcription):
Sign in to the Zoom web portal
Navigate to Settings > Meeting > In Meeting (Advanced)
Toggle on "Closed captioning" and "Enable live transcription service"
After enabling auto-generated captions and when actively in a Zoom meeting, you should see a circle with three dots in it labeled “More” on the lower righthand side of the Zoom room.
Click “More”
Click “Captions” (a box labelled with “CC”)
Click “Show Captions”
Follow the prompts to select your preferred language
For other accessibility needs, please send an email. We want to make sure you can attend comfortably!
