SIP 413 Gallery: Artist Applications

  • Sip 413 90 North Maple Street Northampton, Massachusetts, 01062 United States (map)

Sip 413 is a coffee shop, cafe, and retail goods store owned and operated by queer folk. We prioritize applications from those who identify as queer, BIPOC, disabled, and or have little to no experience with showing their work in a cafe setting. While applications from these folks are prioritized, everyone is welcome and encouraged to apply! All applications will be considered.

This call for applications is for January 2027 - June 2027. If selected, we will ask for a show title and artist statement a month before your show begins. Gallery shows rotate on a monthly basis.

Applications open on Saturday, August 15th and are due on Thursday, October 15th at 11:59 pm! Notifications will be sent out via email by November 1st.

The gallery "reception" is on the second Thursday of the month from 6 pm - 8 pm at our recurring "Artists Hangout" event. This includes time for an optional 5-20 minute artist's talk. You're welcome to provide a community arts & craft activity. Attending this event, giving a talk or providing a craft are all optional but encouraged!

Our gallery space consists of

- two 30" x 8" shelves

- one 24" x 11.5" shelf

- five wall hooks/screws for hanging 2D work

- an optional 44" long x 10" wide x 16" tall shelf to sell retail items (stickers, prints, etc.) for the month

We encourage you to check out the space in person if you haven't been into Sip before!

Artists are welcome to show either 2D or 3D work, as long as the work fits into the weight and dimensions our gallery shelves can hold. Please note that any 2D work would "rest" on the shelves.

Show installations happen around the 1st of the month, and de-installation around the last day of the month. The Sip 413 gallery manager will schedule these dates with the artist, and be there to assist during installation and de-installation.

Sip 413 offers a 60/40 consignment rate with the artist keeping 60% of sales. All work shown is required to be for sale.

Shows will be advertised on our social media and via Valley Arts Newsletter.

If you have any questions, please email Emma at galleryandretail@sip413.com
