Bookish Friends & Networking PRIDE GATHERING

  • 1 Cottage St Easthampton, MA, 01027 United States (map)

Calling all dreamers, word-weavers, and story alchemists!

About Bookish Friends & Networking:

Are you an author, illustrator, editor, bookseller, reviewer, or other part of the bookish creative constellation? Are you looking to make meaningful connections and uplift each other’s work? Then Bookish Friends & Networking is for you!

Join Fortuna Major Press for this monthly gathering on Zoom. It’s an intentional space for kindred spirits dreaming up more just, liberated futures through narrative and art. Imagine: resource sharing, collaborative brainstorming, and shameless self-promotion! This is a place to celebrate your creative passions with fellow book lovers.

Our very first gathering is a Pride Edition—conjured with care for the 2SLGBTQ+ community. This space is exclusively for folks who are part of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, regardless of whether you are “out” in your daily life about your experience.

What To Expect:

We’ll open with introductions to ground ourselves in community. Then, the floor will open for anyone who wants to share what they’re working on, dreaming up, or needing support with. From there, we’ll let the conversation flow—guided by curiosity, care, and whatever the moment calls for. In the final 10–15 minutes, we’ll make space for upcoming event announcements or exciting news you’d like to share with the group.

Any links, resources, or social media shared will be lovingly gathered into a collaborative document and sent to all registered participants, so the connection can keep flowing long after we part.

Pricing:

Bookish Friends & Networking is a free program supported by sliding-scale slots. No one will be turned away for lack of funds (NOTAFLOF). When registering, you may select free registration or a paid registration tier. Your paid registration will be used to support costs associated with outreach efforts, technology maintenance, and facilitation. Pay per session or occasionally.

How To Register:

To register for Bookish Friends & Networking, visit the events section of the Fortuna Major Store and select the Bookish Friends listing. Follow the prompts on the page to select your registration tier. You must follow this process for every Bookish Friends session you wish to attend. Registration closes the day before each gathering.

How To Join:

A half-hour before each gathering, an email will be sent out from fortunamajorcreativeco@gmail.com with a Zoom link to join. Please add this email to your contacts list to ensure emails are delivered and check your spam folder for each session you attend.

Accessibility:

Our reader will be wearing a microphone for all Bookish Friends meetings to enhance sound quality. Zoom offers auto-generated captions for accessibility, which must be manually turned on by users. To enable auto-generated captions (live transcription):

  • Sign in to the Zoom web portal

  • Navigate to Settings > Meeting > In Meeting (Advanced)

  • Toggle on "Closed captioning" and "Enable live transcription service"

After enabling auto-generated captions and when actively in a Zoom meeting, you should see a circle with three dots in it labeled “More” on the lower righthand side of the Zoom room.

  • Click “More”

  • Click “Captions” (a box labelled with “CC”)

  • Click “Show Captions”

  • Follow the prompts to select your preferred language

For other accessibility needs, please send an email. We want to make sure you can attend comfortably!
